This presentation will engage participants in a variety of activities, which support and build on participant knowledge of child development and transitions. Participants will examine current research and practices in guiding young children through classroom transitions to support child development and decrease problem behaviors.
SafetyNet: Smart Cyber Choices Internet Safety, KidsCenter (Offered in English & Spanish)
SafetyNet: Smart Cyber Choices is a training that teachers how technology can be used in a safe, positive, and ethical manner while providing the tools needed to safely manage online lives for both adults and children. SafetyNet was developed by the San Diego Police Foundation and the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The six areas that are covered include Hackers & Scams, Social Networking, Gaming, Inappropriate Texts, Online Predators, and Cyberbullying. Come and learn tangible tips and tools that can help protect yourself and others while they navigate the online world. Discussions will also be had about the best ways to communicate to youth about staying safe online.
STEM Educator Resources in Central Oregon, Tracy Willson-Scott
Do you know how to access Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) resources available to all Central Oregon educators? The Central Oregon STEM Hub manages a vast collection of books, kits, and tech materials. Many educators are not aware of this FREE local resource. We will explore sample books and kits available through the Central Oregon STEM Hub with hands-on activities for early learners. Then we will walk through the online reservation system and shared lesson plans. Plus, we will learn about resources that can be borrowed from other local partner organizations.
